Dust alternative: onAI with DeepL

Dust is a platform for custom AI agents connected to company data and tools. onAI brings DeepL translation and Image Studio into daily work, with direct support from EUR 17 per user per month including EUR 5 of model use.

Specify the application and model locations

Your contracting party is a Swiss company. onAI runs on servers in Europe. You can request a dedicated server or run onAI on your own servers.

Dust lists EU and US workspaces for Business and Enterprise, plus single-tenant deployment for Enterprise. Its EU-only model setting is a separate control for EU credit-priced workspaces using Dust-hosted models. All active agents must use eligible models before that setting can be enabled.

Use an Enterprise quote for a company rollout

onAI starts at EUR 17 per user per month, including EUR 5 of model use. Larger teams pay less, or choose a fixed price for the whole company. The fixed price includes onboarding and training.

Dust Business targets teams up to 100 people. Pro costs EUR 30 per seat per month on monthly billing or EUR 24 per seat per month billed annually, excluding VAT. Max costs EUR 150 or EUR 120 respectively, per seat per month excluding VAT. Pro includes 8,000 credits per seat per month; Max includes 40,000 credits per seat per month. For 200 or more employees, compare a quoted Enterprise offer with annual seats and its agreed credit pool.

Set permissions and see what drives consumption

onAI administrators enable features per group, including Image Studio, translation and web search. Set cost limits per organisation and person, then inspect usage by model, feature and person.

Dust separates Admin, Manager, Member and group-manager duties. Its consumption analytics attributes credits to members, groups, models, tools and agents and supports raw CSV export. Group attribution can count a member in several groups, so totals need interpretation before you use them for internal chargeback. The reports exclude message content but retain identifiers.

Choose the model for the next task

onAI lets employees choose among administrator-approved Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok and Mistral models. Administrators set the allowed models per group.

Dust’s conversation picker changes the model for the next message; Agent Builder sets a persistent agent default. Basic, Standard and Premium use ordered model lists with availability fallback. They do not select a model by analysing the task. Workspace, group and member model-access ceilings and regional eligibility still apply, so available choices depend on your configuration.

Compare image models or build an image agent

In onAI Image Studio, send one prompt to up to three models side by side. Styles can improve the prompt automatically; editing accepts up to ten reference images. You see the estimated cost before generating.

Dust provides Image Generation as an agent tool. Enable the tool in Agent Builder, then ask that agent to generate images. It can use uploaded or previously generated images as references, up to 14 per generation, and run generations in parallel.

Where onAI fits better

Choose onAI when departments need everyday AI tools with direct provider support and a dedicated translation workflow.

  • Translate documents with company terminology

The DeepL translator preserves document layout and supports glossaries and formal or informal address. You can also adjust style and tone.

  • Agree rollout support with the team

Our team works in German and English. The company fixed price includes onboarding and training; service levels and response times are agreed in the contract. We build custom agents and workflows as a service when your rollout needs them.

Where Dust fits better

Dust fits teams that want to configure reusable agents and run them on connected tools, schedules or events. Business includes agent and trigger capabilities; larger rollouts can add Enterprise governance through a separate contract.

  • Run agents from schedules and events

Agents can run on recurring schedules or webhook events from systems such as GitHub, Jira and Zendesk. Administrators connect event sources; authorised builders attach filtered triggers in Agent Builder. Those Business capabilities matter when the same task should run repeatedly without an employee starting each conversation.

  • Connect customer-written MCP tools

Administrators can connect remote MCP servers over secured, reachable URLs, using personal or shared credentials. Business allows five remote MCP servers and three data connections; Enterprise lists unlimited connectors and MCP servers.

  • Use Enterprise SCIM provisioning

Dust Enterprise uses SCIM 2.0 to create, update and deactivate users from an identity provider. Provisioned groups can control Space access and map to Admin or Manager roles. This is an Enterprise entitlement, separate from Business SSO and its small-team seat prices.

What onAI could do better

  • No SCIM lifecycle

onAI creates users at first SSO sign-in and takes groups from the directory. It has no SCIM. If SCIM provisioning is mandatory, resolve that requirement before choosing.

  • Custom automation is a service

onAI has fewer features than some platforms and concentrates on everyday use. We build custom workflows and agents as a service.

Questions you might have

Can we use Dust’s Business price for 200 employees?
Business is aimed at teams up to 100 people. For 200 or more employees, ask for Enterprise pricing and its annual seats, credit pool and required governance features. Compare that offer with onAI for the same number of employees and expected model use.
Does an EU workspace mean every model runs in the EU?
Dust treats the workspace region and EU-only model restriction separately. The restriction applies to EU credit-priced workspaces with Dust-hosted models and requires compliant active agents. onAI runs on servers in Europe and offers dedicated or on-premises deployment on request; establish the exact deployment and model routes for your offer.
How can a team evaluate the products?
Dust Business offers free access for up to five members with 500 lifetime credits per Free seat. That does not establish access to every Enterprise feature. onAI starts with a personal demo, followed by trial access for your team.

How this page was made

Research date: • Method: the vendors' public sources, collected and checked by AI agents and assessed against the onAI comparison rubric v1.1.

AI agents collected and checked Dust’s public documentation and pricing. onAI uses owner facts and reviewed model-family display text. Business and Enterprise scope is kept separate. Captures use original documentation images or labelled onAI demo data.
